Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math
It all begins with the seeds of inspiration.
BISC, Lincoln Park will section an area of the garden into sub areas to demonstrate our STEAM curriculum which offer cross disciplinary hands on experiences. During their visit to our classroom each child will experience being an artist, scientist, engineer and mathematician.
Sub Area #1 – Technology & Engineering
Visitors will design and build a biodegradable pot to plant using newspaper and wooden tools. Pots can be planted directly into the ground without transferring the plant and disrupting the roots.
Sub Area #2 – Science
Visitors will fill newspaper pots with soil and seeds while discussing the conditions that plants need to germinate and grow. Flowers will be available to dissect.
Sub Area #3 – Art
Visitors may participate in a communal art project by weaving colored thread through a large burlap sack to create flower and gardening inspired designs.
Sub Area #4 – Math
Visitors may participate in projects pertaining to symmetry in flowers and plants.
