Garden 2

Birds of a Feather

Art comes in many forms; this garden’s beautifully crafted design reminds us of that. The main focal point of this display are birds, each unfolding their own story with evergreens acting as a back-drop and constant stabilizer. The Show presents the WJIF exhibit in collaboration with local landscape designers and builders to create a display garden that has become widely popular and inspirational!

Featured Artists: Women’s Journeys in Fiber

Women’s Journeys in Fiber, our featured artists, is a Chicago-based group of women working on a series of Process Projects. The annual art pieces are created by a group of local artists that is comprised of members from the Weavers Guild of the North Shore, The North Suburban NeedleArts Guild, and the Illinois Quilters Inc.. This collaborative group of artists express their personal journey, inspiration or a life changing event through an annually chosen medium.  For the 2017 Show, Birds will be the focus of the exhibit with a theme of “Imagined”. Cultivating the next generation of gardener and engaging the Show’s attendees with thought provoking and artistic beauty are a priority of the Chicago Flower & Garden Show.  It was with this goal in mind that the Women’s Journeys in Fiber Exhibit Garden was created in 2011.

Builder: Landcraft Design, LLC

This garden is designed to be simple, but with different textures, heights, and just pure white flowers to make the Birds pop.

Where birds thrive, people prosper. Audubon Great Lakes manages conservation work throughout the region to protect and improve habitat critical for birds during their migration and nesting cycles, we build networks of volunteers and advocates for the natural environment. Audubon Great Lakes is creating a cohesive strategy across the region to address threats to the birds of the Great Lakes. With more than 3,000 miles of shoreline in Michigan alone, the greatest conservation opportunity is the active restoration and protection of coastal habitats. We continue Audubon’s tradition of conservation throughout the Great Lakes, working with chapters and partners in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
